DOCTOR-LED CARE Β· BELFAST
WART &
lesion removal
Skin lesions include different types of lumps, bumps and growths. A medical assessment is needed to identify the lesion before deciding whether removal is appropriate.
WHAT IT IS
Assessment first.
Care that fits.
The technique depends on the diagnosis, size and location. Surgical removal may be considered for some lesions, and a sample may need laboratory examination. The clinic will explain the proposed procedure and any separate testing costs.
Aftercare depends on the removal method and wound. Ask about dressings, stitches, healing time, results of any laboratory tests and follow-up.
A PERSONAL APPROACH

YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST
Consultation before
commitment.
Removal can cause discomfort, bleeding, infection, scarring and changes in skin colour; some lesions can recur. A mole that changes shape, size or colour, or bleeds or itches, should be assessed promptly by a GP.
Time to ask.
Space to decide.
Bring your questions and tell us what matters to you. We will discuss the proposed plan, alternatives, costs and follow-up before you decide whether to proceed.

GOOD TO KNOW
Your questions,
answered.
01 Β· Can every lesion be removed cosmetically?
No. Anything suspicious or uncertain needs appropriate diagnosis and referral before cosmetic treatment.
02 Β· Will I have a scar?
Any procedure that injures or removes skin can leave a scar. The clinician will discuss this before treatment.
